Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sitting down for a meal with Mary of “Lunch with Mary” and chatting about technology, life and my rage for all things Twighlight. (Which she politely didn’t mention in her review, lol) We ate at KitKat

Mary is a Toronto blogger and communication professional who started Lunch With Mary in order to learn from the people around her:

For my 30th year, I want to learn as much as I can. I will do this by taking as many people out to lunch as possible who I can learn something from. I hope I can share what I learn on this blog and maybe help someone else learn something.

Here’s an excerpt from our lunch regarding some of the life lessons we talked about:

The lunch lesson:
I feel a bit silly writing this but having lunch with Rahaf kind of felt like a life-changing moment. I spoke with Rahaf about the amazing things she has already accomplished at a young age, like having a successful book published and working on Obama’s campaign. She just explained that she is like a dowsing stick. When an opportunity arises or she is looking into doing something, she wants to be so excited about it that she is shaking like a dowsing stick that has found water. And if she feels that way about a job or opportunity, she will find a way to do it. I have never met someone who so fully lives by this rule. She searches out inspiring work and makes it happen. Now this book I keep talking about – it’s time to make it happen.

You can read the rest of the entry here.

I had such a wonderful time at lunch. Mary is a great interviewer and she makes you feel at ease. I felt like I was having dinner with an old friend instead of someone I had just met a few minutes earlier.

I also love the concept of her blog and hope she does turn it into a book. There is something intimate and casual about sharing ideas over a meal and I love reading her lessons from the other people she’s met over the last few months.

I look forward to reading more of Mary’s Lunch lessons!
